W and I had the most fun getaway to Napa Valley this past weekend! It was much needed after the busiest of months. W and I woke up early Saturday morning and drove out to Napa. The plan was to wake up early enough to have breakfast at The Fremont Diner which is supposed to have some of the best chicken and waffles! But alas, we didn't get up *quite* early enough - dang. Maybe next time! We grabbed some Starbucks instead and made the drive to our first stop of the day - Cardinale. Ohh my goodness was Cardinale amazing!! We were lucky enough to have a VIP tasting and tried their finest wines - all above $200 a bottle! #spoiled. We thoroughly enjoyed the wines, the view (see their view on my Instagram) and our company! Ann Hawley, Cardinale's Estate Host, is truly a doll and we enjoyed her company just as much as we enjoyed the wine! All in all, Cardinale is a must stop next time you are in the area. I know W and I will be back!
After Cardinale, we grabbed a quick bite at our favorite Napa Valley joint - Gotts Roadside! Seriously a must-stop. I indulged in a delicious burger and W got their Crispy Poke Tacos. We then headed to Barnett Vineyards (a recommendation from Ann) and boy we were glad we changed our plans to go there! Barnett is located high on Spring Mountain which has gorgeous views of the valley below. The drive up to Spring Mountain is worth it in itself - windy roads in between huge trees as you climb the mountain. Seriously, it feels like a scene out of Twilight! If you roll your windows down you even get to smell the Eucalyptus trees. By this time, the weather was getting pretty chilly so I had to throw on my new coat! While we waited for the rest of the tasting party to arrive, Nicole treated us to some Chardonnay in their storage room. Once our party was complete we headed to the cave for the tasting. Again, we enjoyed the company just as much as we enjoyed our wines! The rest of the group was from Austin, Texas and a city right near New Orleans! What are the chances!! If you don't already know, I am a Austin, Texas native and W is originally from the big easy! We had such a lovely time chatting with our fellow group members.
After Barnett, W and I were going to go have a tasting at Hall, but by this point, it was a little after 4pm and we were getting a little sleepy from all the wine so we decided to head back to our hotel! We stayed at the Andaz hotel in downtown Napa and highly recommend staying there! You are greeted with a glass of wine upon check-in. Anywhere you are offered wine is my kind of place! We stayed in one of their loft rooms which was just perfect! They had a huge soaking tub and I just couldn't help myself so I took the most relaxing of bubble baths while I sipped on my glass of wine! It was pure heaven. The bath (and wine) made me one sleepy girl so we decided to cancel our reservation at Oenetri. We both didn't feel like getting ready to go back out after we got so comfortable in our hotel room. So what did we do? We ordered Oenetri to go and ate in our hotel room! Haha. But it was so relaxing eating a delicious meal in my pajamas while we watched Insurgent ;)
The following morning we sadly checked out of our hotel and headed to brunch at one of my favorite spots in St. Helena - Archetype! Seriously, their brunch is drool worthy. We ordered so much food -- see the spread on my Instagram. All in all, W and I had the most perfect of getaways! We feel so lucky to live so close to Napa. Living in SF definitely has its perks ;)
I hope y'all have a wonderful Monday!!
