Ask any of my friends and they will tell you I am constantly re-decorating. Whether it is just rearranging my furniture or a stack of books, I am always dreaming of ways to up the chic in my apartment. I truly enjoy interior design. I think if I was able to go back to college and do it all over again, I would major in interior design. It's like putting together the perfect outfit except it takes way more time and effort!
My home design taste is a combo of styles - mid century modern, palm beach hollywood regency, and art deco. Basically I love a modernized seventies home with pops of color! I think it is important to know what era/design style you like. Yes, people always tell you to just "buy what you love and it will come together." I do think this is true in a way but you want your home to have one aesthetic to bring your mish mash of things together!
In the collage above, I did use a variety of styles but I had a unifying aesthetic - boho chic - which brings the living room together. I really wanted the rug featured above in my current apartment but W thought it was too girly :( I was SO upset (silly I know) but I seriously fell in love with this rug! I ended up ordering another rug so hopefully I will love it just as much. Who else has a lucite obsession? I think it's SO timeless and chic. I originally wanted a lucite bar cart when I was shopping for one several years ago. I ended up finding a beautiful one on Ebay but it arrived damage so I had to return it. Alas, my bar cart search continued where I eventually found my beautiful vintage art deco one (sneak peak of it here.) BUT I do wish this lucite bar cart was available back when I was searching because (a) it is much more affordable and (b) I would of had a lucite bar cart. Last but not least, I want to talk about this amazing statement piece of a coffee table. Yes, it has a steep price tag, but I think investing in good furniture is a good idea. Don't get me wrong, I love IKEA and all, but you want furniture to take you through all the years in life.
