A few weekends ago W and I made the quick and easy trip over to the Treasure Island Flea! It was even better than what I expected. I'm a flea market junkie and would totally antique and treasure shop all weekend long, every weekend if I could! Luckily, this flea is only the last weekend of every month or else I would go all. the. time.
We got to the flea shortly after it opened which I highly recommend doing because (a) you get first dibs on all the goodies and (b) there's a happy hour. Yes, you read that, right happy hour. I knew the flea had an assortment of food trucks but did not know anything about a bar! So obvi W and I were even more excited when we discovered they had a happy hour for moscow mules! I mean seriously what could be better than sipping on some dranks while shopping?! NOTHING! What makes this flea even better is the gorgeous view of San Francisco. I kept turning to W and saying "I feel so beyond lucky to live here" every time I got a glimpse of our beautiful city.
There's only a $3 cash fee to get in but once you're in a lot of the shops do accept card which is nice so you don't have to worry about bringing a lot of cash. But a lot of vendors are more willing to negotiate when you have cash! So keep that in mind when you're planning your next thrifting trip. But please, do not every pay full price for something when you're at a flea - these people EXPECT you to counter! So put on your big girl panties and learn how to negotiate ;)
I didn't buy too much at the flea (due to a small budget) but I did manage to get a steal on some records (even got one thrown in for free!) along with the most gorgeous of succulents! Just pray that I can keep this one alive. I seem to always kill my succulents :( I don't know how or why! There were also lot of gorgeous frames that you could repurpose and beautiful textiles - I just wish we had more room in our tiny apartment!
