If you follow along on Instagram, you may of noticed that I made a quick weekend trip down to LA to see my best friend, Katie! Her husband was in NYC all summer for work so it was the perfect excuse for a girls trip. She had planned the most fun few days so I thought I would share our itinerary! See what we ate, drank, and saw during those 3 days:
We woke up early and made the drive out to Malibu for a hike and lunch with Katie's cute pup, Tucker. The gorgeous drive along the coastline makes the trek worth it in itself. Our original plan was to hike Los Liones Trail but we actually ended up passing the trailhead and by the time we realized it we were 20 minutes past so instead found a trail that was closer to us. To be honest, that was pretty much an epic fail haha. We found the trail and hiked maybe all of 5 minutes… no joke. It was so overgrown that you were constantly brushing up against bushes and we saw at least 10 lizards and walked through bees so we were over it before we really even started. But hey, at least we tried? So we decided to stay screw it and headed to the beach! Luckily, we had a bottle of Rosé on hand ;)
After relaxing on the beach, we made our way to grab a bite at Malibu Farm. This needs to get on your “MUST” list asap. Not only is the view gorgeous but their food and frosé were outstanding and just what we needed after a long hike ;) We then headed back to Katie’s apartment to shower and from there decided to go walk around the Venice Canals before dinner. To be honest, I didn’t think the Venice Canals were going to be as pretty as they were! I imagined they were over hyped but I was pleasantly surprised! I loved walking across the bridges and seeing cute ducks in the canals all the while creeping on people’s homes!
From there, we grabbed an uber and headed to Hotel Erwin’s High Rooftop Lounge. Thank goodness we had a reservation because this place was packed! You can go in without a reservation but I would recommend getting one so you can have a place to sit and watch the sunset. This was the highlight of the trip for me! The cocktails were amazing and you honestly cannot beat the view. We lost track of time chatting and ended up missing dinner! But again, was so worth it!
Today was a pretty boozy day as Katie took me around all the top spots for grabbing a drink and people watching! We started off the day with brunch at Rose Cafe. This place is every blogger’s dream aka insta-worthy around every corner. But not only is this place picture perfect, the food and cocktails were delicious! Katie and I both had their Rose Mimosa which is made with fresh grapefruit juice instead of OJ. Out of control good. If you end up eating here, I highly recommend the crispy brussel sprouts with fried eggs.
After brunch, we made our way to The Bungalow in Santa Monica. Luckily we got there early and did not have to wait in line but apparently around 3pm it gets PACKED and you have to wait in a very long line to get in. We got there around 1/1:30 and grabbed a spot to sit and it steadily got more and more busy as the afternoon went on. This place is very “LA.” I don’t even know how to describe it but definitely a fun spot if you’re looking to day-party.
The last time I was in town, we tried to grab a drink poolside at the Beverly Hills Hotel but it was closed due to “inclement weather” aka there was *maybe” one cloud in the sky haha. So it was my mission to go this trip! We headed there right after Bungalow and we were almost not allowed to go in! As we were walking down to the pool, we noticed there was a host at the top (which apparently is not typically there) and he quickly notified us that they were at capacity and that we could not go down. I immediately thought to myself “This cannot happen again! I have to at least see the pool” so I politiely told him I was in town visiting and asked if I could go down to at least just see the pool. He hesitated and said sure fine, just take the elevator and I’ll act like I didn’t see you. Then Katie overheard him radio down to the pool asking if they had room for “two cute blondes” and they said yes! What’s so weird is that it wasn’t even at half capacity when we got down there! Katie thought there must of been a celebrity or someone like that who didn’t want a lot of people around. We were speculating the whole time we were down there who it could be! I’m just thankful the host let us down ;)
That evening, we had reservations to go to The Nice Guy in West Hollywood but we were pretty tired after a boozy day so we decided to grab dinner at Wildcraft in Katie’s neighborhood. This ended up being perfect as it was a relaxed dinner and we picked up a bottle of wine on our walk home and rentred Troop Beverly Hills. I had never seen it! It was HILARIOUS.
We woke up early on Sunday to make the drive out to Pasadena for the Rose Bowl Flea Market!! This has been a dream of mine to go to and I’m so happy we made the trek. We spent several hours there and I feel like we barely made a dent! But it was everything I thought it would be. I just wish I had brought a bigger suitcase so I can bring more stuff back to SF with me! Highly recommend going if you’re ever in LA the second Sunday of each month. Be sure to bring cash, wear comfy shoes, and wear sunscreen!
It was the perfect end to the perfect weekend trip!
