One of the biggest perks of living in San Francisco is being close in proximity to wine country! It’s absolutely one of my favorite ways to spend a weekend! A few weekends ago, we headed out to spend a day in Napa where we spent the majority of our day at Clif Family Winery and had the most amazing experience.
Clif Family Winery is located in my favorite town of all Napa Valley - Saint Helena! We sat outside on their back patio as our friends brought their furry children with them. Although dogs aren’t allowed in the tasting room, Clif Family Winery was very pet friendly and we were able to close the gates around the outside area and let them run around which was so nice and convenient! They also have a tent with heaters that they put up on chilly days which was a nice touch and added to the ambiance.
If you’re unfamiliar with Clif Family Winery, they are all about small production wine and hand crafted food which truly makes for a unique and delicious experience! The winery is owned by the co-founders of Clif Bar, Gary Erickson and Kit Crawford, and they began their love of food and wine with cycling adventures through Italy where long days of cycling would end in leisurely evenings of good wine and food. As great lovers of food, wine, and adventure, they sought to bring these memorable experiences to their Napa Valley home with the Clif Family tasting room and Bruschetteria food truck. All their products are soured from their organic farm and vineyards that are located high atop Howell Mountain.
I have been lucky enough to receive some shipments from Clif Family Winery and let me tell you their quarterly shipments have been my absolute favorite as they not only ship you wine but also some of their local food products such as jam and granola! It’s been such a fun experience tasting all of what this winery has to offer.
Our tasting room experience was no different — we hopped between their two main tastings: King of the Mountain Tasting and their Chocolate & Wine Pairing. Everything we tried was incredible and we cannot wait to go back! We ended our experience with a savory lunch from the Bruschetteria truck which was the perfect way to end our time at the tasting room. We left with happy hearts and full bellies!
